How do I earn HNT?
Participants earn HNT by mining for Bitcoin and building coverage for The People Network using compatible hotspots.
How Do Hotspots Earn Helium Tokens?
Hotspots earn more money when they’re active. When a hotspot is inactive, it doesn’t get any reward. The network pays out to active hotspots.
No. You need to do nothing but deploy your hotspot. Once it’s deployed, it’ll start earning $HNT automatically.
What happens if I don’t have enough HNTs to pay my bill?
If you don’t have enough HNT to cover the amount of HNT required to pay your monthly invoice, we will not charge you until you have sufficient funds in your account.
What Are The Current Block and Epoch Times?
At any time you can access the Helium Blockchain Explorer to view recent block information, past $HNT productions, and much more!
What Happens to HNT When Block Times are Slow?
Blocks take longer than minutes to process, and therefore fewer blocks get processed during a given hour. The blockchain produces less HNT because less blocks were produced during the hour.
This epoch takes twice as long as normal, but the block reward is still distributed at half the normal rate because of the halving.
Why Does My Wallet Have Different Amounts Of HNT Than What Is On The Network?
Your wallet has different amounts of HNT than what’s on the network because your wallet only displays the balance that you’ve added or withdrawn from your wallet.
When Block Times Slow Down, Everyone Earns Less ?
Everyone who participates in the network should be aware that there is a reduction in HNT production. This means that everyone earns less than before. However, it’s not because the network is slowing down but because the consensus group is reducing the number of blocks per second produced.
Where Do I Put My Miner?
Miner signals are disrupted by metal and other objects. To improve signal strength, place miners near windows.
Can I Use A Raspberry Pi For Mining?
Yes, but it won’t produce very many coins. It’s best suited for home use.
Is There Any Way To Mine Using An Android Device?
No. Android devices cannot mine.
Which Miner is the Best?
As far as miners go, the Bobcat Miner 300 is the most popular. It is an easy-to-use miner that ships within 14 days. It takes payments via Coinbase Commerce, but it does not take card payments.
Where Do I Store HNT?
Helium’s official wallet apps are available for both iOS and Android devices. You can use them to store your coins safely and securely.
Are Helium miners worth it?
The main reason why people use miners is to increase their chances of getting a payout. Miners are not necessary to participate in the network. If you want to participate in the network without having to worry about running a miner, then you can simply purchase.
What is the People’s Network?
The People’s Network is powered by an entirely new incentive model – made possible by the Helium Blockchain.
How much energy does it use?
And because of an innovative proof-of-work model (we call it “Proof-of-Coverage”), your Hotspot only uses 5W of energy.
Q. What do you think about vendor listings?
Please do your own research as a vendor listing does not equal endorsement or recommendation.
How does HNT work?
Participants earn HNT by mining and building coverage for The People’s Network using compatible Hotspots.
How do I know if my hotspot is covered by HNT?
Hotspots on the network are randomly and automatically assigned Proof-of-Coverage tests to complete.
How do Hotspots earn HNT?
Hotspots earn HNT for transferring device data over the network.
How do I buy HNT?
You can buy HNT with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, Ripple, Zcash, Monero, and more!
How do I sell HNT?
You have two options: 1) Sell directly to another user; 2) Sell to one of our partners.
Who owns the HNT blockchain?
The HNT blockchain belongs to all users who contribute to the network.
How Much Will You Earn?
While there’s no exact formula for calculating how much you’ll earn over a given period, there are some higher level concepts, design elements, and rules to keep in mind that will help better explain what you might earn and why.
What is the target block time?
So, if the Network achieves its target block time of seconds, and target epoch of blocks, the blockchain will produce HNT per month.
How much HNT will the blockchain produce?
As of August 1, 2021 (the most-recent halving), the target production rate for new $HNT minted per month is . This means that, if the blockchain performs as designed, it will produce HNT per month.
How do Hotspots work?
Your Hotspot will perform all of the above activities on its own while it runs.
Can I earn $HNT by doing anything else?
Once your Hotspot is completely deployed and fully synced with the Helium blockchain, you as the owner are not required to do anything else in order to earn $HNT.
How do I view the Helium blockchain?
At any point you can go to the Helium blockchain Explorer to view recent block and epoch statistics, past $HNT production numbers, and much more.
What types of rewards are available?
For every complete epoch, marked by the election of a new Consensus Group, all the produced are distributed over the following reward types: Reward Type Percentage HNT Earned by Reward Type PoC Challenger 0.90% 15.6250 PoC Challenges 5.02% 87.1527 Witnesses 20.08% 348.6111 Consensus Group 6% 104.1666 Security Tokens 33% 572.9166 Network Data Transfer Up to 35% _Up to 607.6389 Total 100% 1736.1111 Rewards Change Over Time In the above table you can see the maximum allotted rewards per reward type in accordance with HIP 10 (described below).
What is HIP10?
It ensures that $HNT is rewarded at a rate of 1:1 to the amount of Data Credits (DCs) routed by any given Hotspot per epoch.
What is the proportional relationship between Network Data Transfer reward and DC?
This proportional relationship between Network Data Transfer reward type and DC is capped at 35% (607.6389 HNT).
What would be the net result?
Therefore, if the DC burned doesn’t equal the value of HNT, the remaining HNT is redistributed to the Proof of Coverage (PoC) rewards groups pro-rata.
How will I earn rewards?
All Hotspots participating in Network Data Transfer will earn rewards proportion As such, the total amount of rewards earned at any point in time may be less than the stated totals. For example, if the maximum allocation for witnesses was set at 50%, then only half of the maximum number of witnesses would receive rewards. If the maximum allocation for security tokens were set at 60%, then only one third of the maximum number of security tokens would receive rewards.
